It is estimated that each year,
640,000
tons of fishing gear
are lost or abandoned in the seas and oceans.
Millions
of marine animals
are injured and killed by ghost nets.
We clean the seas to save marine life
and at the same time give our partners the chance to contribute to ocean protection. The fishing nets we
collect will be regenerated into brand-new nylon and brand-new products.
Actions against waste fishing nets:
6 Regions = 1 Goal
Our activities bring us to areas important for biodiversity and tourism, seas that are heavily fished and at the same time hold
shipwrecks and other objects where waste fishing nets tend to accumulate.
We currently work in the following regions, with over 350 volunteer divers and 1250 fishers and fish farmers.
We implement our activities in the following countries:
1. The Netherlands
2. Germany
3. Greece
4. Italy
5. Spain
6. UK
7. Croatia
8. Poland
9. Belgium
10. Switzerland
11. Slovenia
12. Ireland
13. France
14. Cyprus
15. Lebanon
16. New Zealand
17. Egypt
18. USA
19. Hong Kong
20. South Korea
Our Results Make A Sea of Difference
Since our founding in 2013, Healthy Seas has collected 905 tons of waste nets and other marine litter and ensured
they become a valuable resource instead of ending up in a landfill or in the natural environment.
In this way, we have
prevented thousands of sea animals and birds from becoming trapped
and
made possible that waste nets become a valuable resource.
Together we can make
a positive impact for the planet!
