We are thrilled to announce the successful conclusion of Operation Deep Blue Legacy. This project has been a remarkable journey, supported by our dedicated partners and aimed at safeguarding our underwater heritage and marine ecosystems.
Celebrating Success and Impact
Over the course of 11 intensive dives, our team of seven divers tackled challenging conditions in the Mediterranean to address the issue of ghost nets. These hazardous remnants from lost or abandoned fishing gear pose a serious threat to marine life, and our divers worked diligently to remove them from several historic shipwrecks.
Despite encountering variable weather, the mission achieved impressive results. We successfully recovered numerous ghost nets, many of which are in good condition and will be repurposed by local fishermen. This not only helps reduce marine debris but also supports sustainable fishing practices. The removal of these nets is a critical step in protecting marine ecosystems and preserving the historical value of these underwater sites.
