Arena and Olympic Champion Florian Wellbrock Join Forces with Healthy Seas for Water Cleanup Mission in Germany
In an inspiring collaboration, arena and Healthy Seas are uniting athletes to tackle the mission towards clean waters. Through sport, sustainability, and ocean conservation, this partnership is promoting athletic excellence and raising awareness about the critical need to protect the ocean and waterways.
The campaign brings together three exceptional arena athletes, all Olympic medalists, each committed to leading local cleanup missions. These initiatives aim to remove harmful fishing nets. This effort showcases how sports can be a powerful platform for environmental change.
In Germany, Florian Wellbrock, open water swim champion, recently took part at a lake cleanup at Kreidesee Hemmoor. Wellbrock’s deep commitment to clean waters underscore the significance of these initiatives. As he noted: “Water belongs to all of us, and only clean water is good water.”
Following the success in Germany, the campaign will head to Italy in October, where Olympic champion Gregorio Paltrinieri will spearhead a mission in a marine protected area. Known for his passion for open-water swimming and ocean conservation, Paltrinieri will once again join forces with the Healthy Seas Foundation to protect the waters he so deeply values. This mission also aligns with his broader initiative, “Dominate the Water,” which blends sport with environmental advocacy.
The final chapter of the campaign will take place in California in early November, led by world champion swimmer Drew Kibler. Kibler, who has already been an outspoken advocate for clean oceans, will focus his efforts on cleaning up an area of the California coastline. His participation will highlight the global nature of this cause, reminding us that protecting the ocean is a universal responsibility.
The global campaign demonstrates the unique power of athletes to inspire change. With arena’s commitment to water conservation and our efforts to tackle marine pollution, we see that this partnership is creating a ripple effect in the sports community and beyond. Each mission, whether in Germany, Italy, or the U.S., reminds us that, with collective action, we can protect the ocean.
